It's another bright Sunday here in Mauritius. Still hot as the depths of hell, and there's nothing more you wanna do that plop down in front of an open terrace door/window, and with a blowing fan to your side, an ice-cold mocktail in your hand (preference lately = virgin mojito *grin*) and a good read...
...which today means *yippee!* Six Sentence Sunday snippets!
Okay, I am back in the yard of the Camberry Victorian mansion (and before you start to wonder how much stuff can actually happen on an estate's yard, let me just tell you a whole chapter takes place here! There, we have that out of the way *grin*).
So, Jamie is pining for Margo... whom he thinks bats for the other team, thanks to Emma's long-winded explanation. Ice Queen Margo is also feeling something for the hunky Jamie - she who never feels anything but cold professionalism and swift competence.
But is she finally coming undone? And what of the misunderstanding between them? Will it ever be resolved... before it's too late, for both of them?
'...
A hot flush crept up her face and burned her cheeks when she found herself wanting to touch the fabric, eager to know if the flannel was as soft as the lamb's wool shirt of the night before.
Damn hormones - thirty-six was too young for peri-menopause, wasn't it?
"Is something wrong?"
His voice sounded thick, strained - come to think of it, the expression on his face echoed his tone; he didn't look aloof as much as he resembled a man careful to shield his feelings.
He hadn't looked at her that way the day before, as if he was hesitant about her; she read his body language all too well, since he echoed every other witness, and the people in victims' entourages, she encountered on criminal cases.
"Emma was with you?" she asked, hoping to break the stilted, tension-filled silence between them. ...'
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!
From Mauritius with love,
Zee

I don't think these hot flashing hormones have a thing to do with menopause, just one man in particular! ;-)
Great six Zee!
Lol DeAnna - I totally agree! :)
WOW!! Hot hot hot! Definitely not menopause lol
Ride the tension, Margo, and go for it!
Great six, Zee, and thanks for the shout out! :)
Yup, I'm not thinking it has anything to do with peri menopause. ;-)
Great six, Zee!
Smooth....yep, some times hot flashes don't come from peri/menopause at all!
Lol Alix :) xoxo
That's right, Jessica :) & you're welcome for the shoutout XOXO
Layna, I'd say 'red hot man' alert :)
Indeed, Cara, indeed! :)
Libido has a way of sneaking up at the most inopportune moments. I'm sure she'd like to get it back in its Pandora's box. Wonderful 6, Zee!
Great tension!! I'm so hoping they work things out!
well done Zee. this is amazing!
Nice use of texture - I think it's the opposite of menapause - as we age we come into our own :D
It's a sunny day in California, too! In six sentences, you sucked me in!
Lol Patricia - that's exactly what she wants to do right now :)
Thanks Angela!
Aww, thank you, Liz! xoxo
So it would seem, Sue... but acquiring life experience can be a total biatch! :)
Sheri, that's so nice of you! *hugs*
Thanks for the shout-out, Zee! <3. Love this six, but I am dying from the tension. Something has to happen! On another note, love the detail about touching the shirt. Makes me want to touch my husbsnd's flannel right now...
Lovely description, though I suspect she was rather more interested in touching the man wearing that soft flannel than the flannel itself. :)
I wanna touch that warm flannel, now, too. :D Thank you for the mention, m'dear, and great six. :)
Tense six, Zee!! Wonderful!
Thanks JM, and you're welcome for the shout out :)
Lol, how did you know I was thinking of going after my hubby's flannel shirt when I was writing this part? *grin*
Lol Babette - that ain't so far from the truth :)
Siobhan, me too, me too... esp with "Jamie" under the fabric... :)
Thanks Jennifer! xoxo
Of ALL the topics for her to bring up, it's gotta be Emma! LOL. Loved your six, Zee!
(And you are making me TOTALLY want summer. The fan, the drink ... it all sounds DIVINE!)
Great six, Zee... sorry I'm a day late..LOL
I don't thinks she's menopausal...LOL
Lol Sarah - when in doubt, or out of your depths, fall on the kids. Mummyhood 101 :)
I'll trade you this sweltering heat for som cold
