After a rather cold and rough Saturday, where I felt the start of a cold bug making the rounds here, today it's a sunny & bright Sunday. Still chilly, so the despite the air being clean and clear, it's still perfect weather to snuggle down with an afghan and hot chocolate with a good read. Perfect for Six Sentence Sunday! :)
Back again in Vegas this week - and this time, what happens in Vegas won't stay in Vegas. Remember - in the past weeks, you've seen how Rayne has been plotting something that she doesn't want Ash to know... What was it? Get a glimpse today.
This scene takes place a few hours from last week's excerpt. A lot has happened to now-retired spy/assassin Rayne in the meantime, but I'll let her fill you in.
She was invited to her sister's wedding; the card stated Rayne plus one and asked her to RSVP—her mother probably didn't believe Rayne would attend but couldn't resist sending the invite.
The gears inside Rayne's head clicked, one into the other—guests usually attended a wedding with a significant other, and if she went with her husband, that would be a statement for the world to see that she and Ash were married. She didn't know him well, as an adult, but the best friend Ash had been would never leave her in the lurch.
She bit her lip and reached for the cordless phone. A girl had to do what a girl had to do, and this time, even though her future hung in the balance, the plan had nothing to do with murder.
With slow, measured pressure, she dialled the extension for England, then for Hastings, followed by the family home number....'
How far will she go? Life is not a strategy board, is it? Grab your copy of Before The Morning (Corpus Brides: Book Two) and find out.
Don't forget to check some amazing SSS peeps on the official list - Jessica E. Subject, Cassandra Dean, Michelle Pickett, Cara Bristol, Carmen deSousa, Sara Walter Ellwood, Taryn Kincaid, Rhonda Hopkins, Sue Ann Bowling, Krystal Shannan, Susanna Fraser - among many others!
Hope you're having a lovely weekend, everyone!
